I sold a 10% off center IHC PCGS 64 on Feb 19th.
It sold quite low for $500
It is back up for sale in an Auction today, very fast turn around if it was returned and no mention from Teletrade about a returned consignment.
This has happened before, I'm starting to think that if no reserve is placed on a valuable coin that Teletrade may just purchase the coin at a low price to re list it later for a profit.
Yes my fault for not placing a reserve. Just an observation.
I'll be watching to see if it sells and what the opening bid is.

Sunday.... We walked the coast line to the Hilton Waikoloa to watch the dolphin show. Arrived too early so we sat on the deck and had lunch and a drink. Two groups of people, who paid $200 apiece, got into the pool and interacted with the dolphins for about 30 minutes. They did a nice job and looked to be having a lot of fun. After lunch we continued to explore the vast Hilton complex. We went to the Indian sutra statue at the end of the property and turned back. The boat was not running so we took the tram back and walked the halls looking at all of the historical statues and carvings that are on display. Much of it from India with alot from China as well. Some of pottery wwas 2000 years old! We walked back to the condo as Suzanne was coming down with a chest cold. Grilled hamburgers for dinner and talked to a guy from Michigan who said that condo fees in these units were $880 a month. Yikes!!!!! Barbara won at dominoes. 11527 steps 5.27 miles

Monday.... We went to downtown Kona and explored "the strip" along the ocean front. We stopped at the Farmers Market and looked at their wares. Lots of fresh vegetables, trinkets, handmade items, and Chinese crap. We ate lunch at The Fishhopper" which allowed a great view of Kailua Bay in Kona. After lunch we stopped at the oldest church in Kona ,1837, and headed back to the car at Farmers Market. About that time we noticed thick black smoke inland about 1/2 mile. We went to Keauhou Beach by the Outrigger to swim/snorkel but the water was rough and we were running later into the afternoon. We decided to head back north to our condo but when we got to the main road it was closed because of heavy smoke and perhaps the fire jumping the highway. The news later said it was a 35 acre brush fire with many residents having to evacuate their homes. There were 3 helicopters with canvas buckets dropping water and refilling from the ocean or a reservoir. As we snaked through the backed up traffic and finally got back on north 19 we were passed by several Army fire trucks coming down from the slopes of Mauna Kea to assist. We stopped for gas at Costco $4.19 a gallon. After all of the excitement we got home and had some gin and tonics, prepared expertly by Barbara, and Costco lasagna which was also very good. After watching NCIS Suzanne headed for bed. BUT not before Barbara surprised us with some chocolate ice cream mmmmmmm no dominoes 61141 steps 2.8 miles.

Tuesday.... Beach day at Kahaka Kai State Park. My favorite beach for hanging out. The one mile drive in on the lava field took us 25 minutes. We found a picnic table with shade and proceeded to relax Tom went snorkeling and I tried to boogie board but the conditions were not very good. We read/slept/ played until about 3:40 and returned home for dinner. We grilled chicken and had a fresh salad as well as Costco's excellent sweet rolls. 6141 steps 2.81 miles

Wednesday.... Suzanne has succumbed to the creepy crud with fits of coughing and lots of phlegm. We stayed at home while Barbara and Tom went back to Waimea and did some mkore exploring. Spent two hours poolside hoping to have some help from the sun in drying her out. I talked to a guy who is a securities trader for about an hour. He lives (rents) here and makes a living at trading. The discussion was pretty basic (for him) but enlightening for me. A lot of charts and graphs to decipher and excellent high internet is a must. Maybe something to occupy my feeble brain Leftovers for dinner 4149 steps 1.91 miles

Thursday..... Suzanne felt a little better so we drove up the road to the Mauna Lani resort and walked around the fish ponds. Afterwards we went Puako Petroglyph Park and marveled at the petroglyphs that had been carved into the lava. No one is quite sure what they mean or symbolize but there is no question that a lot of work was needed to etch them into the lava. Returned home and had a fix your own dinner along with the requisite gin and tonics. Early bed time for all 10246 steps 4.6 miles

Friday..... A long day. We left the condo at 7:40 and headed for Saddle Road. We stopped at Waikoloa Village for coffee and teas then headed for Hilo. Saddle Road derives its name from being the road that connects East hawaii with west Hawaii in the most direct way. It was built in the lowest area or "saddle" where Mauna Kea meets Mauna Loa. Hastily built during WWII it as become a legend for narrow winding hilly back roads.Until very recently rental car companies prohibited driving their vehicles on the road. However, after 9/11 Hawaii has spent a lot of money improving the road so that the 53 mile long road is much faster, straighter and safer. All of the improvements were in the center section , about a 30 mile stretch, because an Army base is located here and the old road ran right through the middle of the base. Security issues eh? The western section however, still has in its 8 mile stretch 7 one lane bridges We arrived in Hilo and went directly to KHOP for breakfast. KHOP is Ken's House of Pancakes and is a local favorite. Open 24 hours a day it offers a full menu including turkey dinners butI was after a Loco Moco original. The Loco Moco original consists of two scoops of rice in a bowl witha hamburger on top of the rice covered in gravy with two eggs on top of that. Oh my, is it good. Tom had the corned beef hash Loco which uses home made corned beef hash. The girls had stateside breakfasts of eggs, hash browns, bacon ( Suzanne) portugeuse sausage ( Barbara) and pancakes. KHOP to Farmers market to gas station $4.27/gallon, to Post office to Toni's house in HPP past Larry's japanese house and then off to Volcanoe's National Park. We went to Jagger Museum overlooking the Halema'uma'u Crater which was smoking heavily switching from white to gray for no apparent reason. We then headed to the Kilauea-Iki overlook and marveled at the view but did not hike into the caldera, this time. Down Chain of Craters Road to the ocean, a drop 3000 feet on a 20 mile road. Stopped at the Sea Arch and then hiked down former route 130. Route 130 used to connect Eastern Hawaii with the National Park, but about 1982 the lava began flowing and over the course of the next 20 years it has buried not only the road but entirely wiped out one subdivision and covered all but about 15 houses in another. We walked about a 1/4 mile down the highway until the lava began segmenting it in stretches. The road sign in the pictures is original and serves as a reminder of how powerful these volcanoes can be. Hiked back to the car and headed back home. We returned via the southern route in order to see more of the island. We drove through Ka'u coffee country around the southern tip past Green beach then began the northern stretch through the districts of Kona and various coffee and macadamia plantations. Stopped at Costco for a $5.99 pepperoni pizza, gin, cereal and gas $4.26/gallon abd then made it home. A 12 hour road trip ended successfully with pizza, salad, gin and tonics and dominoes. Ron won at dominoes 8695 steps 3.97 miles
Saturday.... The hike into Pololu Valley is one of our favorite hikes. The trail down has 3 switchbacks with two of them offering spectacular shoreline vistas and the stretch of black sand beach. We hiked down a damp trail as it had been raining intermittently all morning but when we reached the beach it was perfect. The sand here is the finest sand I think I have ever walked in. It isn't powdery but it is as fine as baby powder. Nice and soft but definitely not for diapers We enjoyed the sounds of the waves and then headed up the other valley towards Honokane Nui. The trail has 6 switchbacks on the way to the top and is narrow and wet most of the time. There are two areas that are mosquito alleys so it is important to not stop there. The top of the trail has a gate and begins a gentle climb to a terrific overlook that allows you to view the coastline that is mostly inaccessible as well as look back to where the car is parked. It was quite windy when we peaked and stopped for lunch. We took refuge in a break of trees and enjoyed our lunch. Until the wind picked up and it brought rain. We cut our rest short and headed back down towards the beach. Tom discovered a rainbow off the trail so we stopped and took pictures and noted it was in fact a double rainbow. Nice. The hike down was uneventful and we stopped to enjoy the surf and sand before hiking back up to the car. Home for showers and gin and tonics. Lasagna, salad, adn garlic bread for dinner followed by a complete collapse by 9:20. 14044 steps 1184 aerobic 6.42 miles

Sunday..... We headed to the beach at Mauna Kea resort but the parking lot was full so we went to Hapuna Beach instead. The beach was very nice and we found a shady area and enjoyed the 80 degree weather and sun. We had to chase the shade once before we left. Returned to the condo ,yep, you guessed it, gin and tonics We then made homemade loco mocos which turned out quite delicious. What a rough week 5392 steps 2.46 miles . See you next week.

Mexico 8 Reale 1782MOFF El Cazador NGC 0
This coin was recovered from the Spanish man-o-war the El Cazador The Hunter which sank during the year 1784 in the Gulf of Mexico just fifty miles off the coast of the present State of Louisiana. The vessel originally set sail from Veracruz with nearly 19 tons of silver coins (roughly 400, 000 silver eight reales) minted in Mexico during the reign of King Carlos II of Spain. The vessel was bound for New Orleans, which was then Spains capitol of the Louisiana Territory (1762-1803) and the money was destined as payment for soldiers and government workers.
Aloha again from the Big Island. We arrived at 5:30pm (10:30 EST) on Tuesday afternoon after flying out of Dayton at 6:40 am. Barbara and Tom picked us up and we went to Costco for our groceries. We are in a new condo complex this time directly across from Kings Market. The floor plan is essentially the same as the Fairways Villa but newer. Wednesday we were up at 4:00 am as jet lag took its toll. We got up and watched the sunrise over Mauna Kea and then explored both Kings Market and Queens Marketplace. The Wednesday Farmers market was just setting up and we bought 4 homemade goodies guava jam, coconut butter, lilikoi (passionfruit) butter, and lemon butter. The next booth had macadamia nuts so we got vanilla glazed, lilikoi, and chile spiced. We finished exploring and came back for lunch at 9:30 After "lunch" we packed up and went to A Beach. We found a nice spot under some palm trees and proceeded to read, nap, talk when the whales found we were back. To our delight they put on a show for about an hour of breaching, tail slaps, pec slaps, spouts galore and tremendous splashes when they jumped completely out of the water. What a treat that was. A stroll down the beach found 6 turtles sunning themselves. A helicopter was hovering and buzzing a stretch down the beach and it turns out they were filming a Hawaiian net fishing. No more details at this point. At 4 we headed back to the condo and grilled chicken for dinner. Too tired for dominoes we were all in bed by 9 pm. I forgot my pedometer in the morning stroll but guess about 8000 steps plus 3636 in the afternoon for a nice beginning. I am feel like I am home again and Hawaii seemed happy to have us back.

Thursday was a terrific day. We started with guava pancakes and coconut pancakes covered with the various jams and butters from Wednesdays Farmers market. Quite tasty combinations were discovered We went to Waialea Bay or Beach 69 for the afternoon. It is a unique beach in that it has many trees at the shoreline and they form little rooms that provide some privacy. The water was warmer today but none of us ventured in. After an afternoon of sunning, reading, walking and napping we returned to the condo and went to the pool. Quick showers and then to A beach to watch the sunset. A gorgeous sunset was seen by all with the sun appearing orange and yellow in the pictures. Back to the condo and grilled salmon for dinner. Suzanne won at dominoes. I had 9889 steps for the day. 4.3 miles

Friday..... We hiked the Sea Arches trail and visited the Place of Refuge for some Hawaiian history lessons. The hike along the ocean was nice with many sea arches and blowholes. Because the tide was low and the surf was calm the blowholes didn't put on a grand display but showed glimpses of their power. The sun was unrelenting as we hiked because there is no shade on the lava flows. We ate lunch by a great arch with a 40 foot high span across the sea. We hiked back to the road, then to the car and drove to Place of Refuge. One of the interesting facts presented was that if a Hawaiian stepped on the path of the king he was killed because the action would anger the gods and they would cause lava flows and tidal waves. If you broke a law or were on the losing side in a battle and could get to a Place of Refuge, a priest would cleanse you and you could return home safely. After our tour of the area we headed back north to our condo. We stopped at The Coffee Shack for coffee and smoothies. The small joint had about 9 tables but was perched on the side of a hill with a panoramic view of the southern Kona coast line. We returned home on some back roads to avoid the rush hour traffic. We had some pu-pu's ( snacks)and drinks before dinner and then bbq beef sammitches with jack daniels sauce(from Costco), broccoli slaw, and pasta salad for dinner. Too pooped for dominoes again so early to bed 11254 steps. 5.15 miles

Saturday, a day to slow down and heal We went to two farmers markets up the hill in Waimea. After loading up with fresh produce we had a lunch of kettle corn(me), green papaya salad(suzanne), pad thai(barbara), and loco moco(tom). We headed to Hawi and got there in time for the Chinese New Years celebration as the dragon went from business to business offering good luck for a small donation. As always an entertaining spectacle. We stopped and got shave ice for the road after visiting all the shops on the street. Returning to our condo we stopped at Lapakahi State Historical Park and toured the site. Stopped as always at the fish god shrine and left a small donation to keep him/her happy Leftovers for dinner were delicious. Tom won at dominoes.6217 steps 2.8 miles

Sunday To the beach Kehaka Kai State Park has a road that runs over the lava field with little or no improvement. The 1 mile journey takes about 20-25 minutes to complete but the beach at the end of the road is just spectacular. Suzanne and Barbara walked in while Tom and I rode. At the beach we saw some turtles and a couple of whales out further as well. Tom snorkeled and I paddled around a bit as the sea was high enough to make it difficult to laze around but not high enough for boogie boarding. After lounging around until 3 we left and refueled at Costco. Gas was $4.19 which is 22 cents cheaper than Tesoro right down the street. Milk was $4.67 a gallon, eggs $2.95/18, extra lean ground beef $3.29/lb, orowheat bread $7.79 for 2 two pound loaves. I hope this helps give you an idea of costs here. No dominoes again this evening???? 6662 steps or 3.03 miles
